I would like to send a heart felt thank you to all vets present and past. I would like to share with you reading this that with the way vets are being treated whether it’s avoidance, neglect or just plain disrespect a story that I watched and it has brought me to a complete understanding that these men and women have put there lives for the betterment of this country and all they got in return was grief. Please, watch this video and get yourself involved to help the many in need.
I would like to start out by saying ‘Thank You’ to Fred and his crew at WSPD for taking the time to go to the ESM (Erie Street Market) and displaying exactly what goes on over there on a typical “business” morning. It didn’t look very crowded at all, heck I didn’t really see much for traffic inside either. Watch the video provided by WSPD and see for yourself the wonders and glories of the market.
Today’s meeting at one government center regarding the “funds” acquired without council approval was quite interesting in and of itself. I learned a few things while at the same time hearing the same ole bs from the council which in this case was nothing. Council had the chance to not support the ESM a few months ago but it went ahead and approved funding for it to continue to operate as an illegal venue. Yes illegal because the city of Toledo is not supposed to be in business. I hope that those that felt it necessary to okay the funds to keep the market open longer will think long and hard the next time the ESM needs more money. City council was completely embarrassed today by both the administration and the tax payers. I will be looking for a better running council for the rest of this year because from what I have seen thus far for the first half of the year I am not impressed at all.
Last week my friend was in an accident just north from where I live. She and her husband were heading home after work when a woman decided to run a caution yellow arrow that became red before she was half way through the intersection. My friend hit the vehicle that was turning because the woman failed to yield when she was supposed to. Well to make a long story short my friend had to search for an autobody paint and repair shop so that she can get an estimate on the total damages. Now I did mention to her that there are sites out there that will help her with any questions she might have. I will mention CollisionRepairExperts.com to her today so that she can see if their expertise can help her out. Now if we can only suggest the woman who failed to obey the rules of the road this site she can then turn around and offer it to whom ever she cuts off next. Yes I know that’s a far stretch attempt but it is a good attempt nonetheless, right? Get the details and information today so that you’re better prepared in the future.
Here in Toledo we find one too many homes for sale. Some are either foreclosed or some are just empty because the family has moved out of Toledo for what ever reason. I don’t know if this will be an immediate hit but it can be a start to something that can get people back into Toledo. A lot of people aren’t aware of the many good looking homes that are for sale here and with a tour bus like the one being tested in Virginia would definitely work here. Check out the link below and watch how they organize such an event with so many potential buyers.
It’s been about a week or so since I posted about my mom and dad visiting and their amazement of how the gas prices can go up so quickly. Well last week I received the video clip below from a friend of mine - when I got done watching this I was completely shocked that something like this hasn’t hit the assembly lines yet. Now I don’t know when the interview aired on that channel but knowing what the potential could be for something like that is just amazing. Watch the video and let me know what you think.
My parents stopped by to see me this past weekend on their way back to Connecticut. They came in my dad’s RV, they started their tour from CT to TX then visited Mexico for about two weeks then decided to pay me a visit here in Ohio. I spent about 20 minutes talking to them about what the gas prices were throughout the many states. After writing down all the info I realized that Dallas, TX had the cheapest gas of all the states visited. They had their marker set at $3.10 per gallon which isn’t really a great deal but compared to what the price is now it definitely sounds better.
Well about two days before they had to head back home my dad decided to get gas at the local gas station, well before we did that I took them both to one of the parks here and when we drove past the gas station the marker read $3.31 per gallon. Now of course it’s high but to my dad it wasn’t too bad - we spent about an hour at the park and then decided to head back to my house. We did not take the same route back home that we took to get to the park.
Well we got home and fired up the RV and headed on over to fill up - in a matter of an hour and a half the price went from $3.31 to $3.49 per gallon. My dad was pissed, I have mentioned to him before that the prices here tend to jump really high without any warning but for him to actually see it was simply priceless. His jaw dropped and the first thing that came out of his mouth was “Figures, Now let’s see if they drop it that fast!”
We ended up driving to another location a few blocks away - thankfully their markers were set to $3.31 still. So after $83.00 of gas was poured into the RV my dad was once again calm and ready to enjoy the rest of the day. I did not ask him what his total bill was for gas during the entire trip but I can assume it’s well beyond $1,000. The video clip below is of a gas station on the New Jersey turnpike that had a nice long line of vehicles waiting to fill up before the price hike.
The individual that I agree with is none other then Jean Lange. She had mentioned in today’s Blade that she likes it better when there is a bit of snow left on the road because it at least provides a smoother ride then without it. I live on National Ave and I can tell you first hand that on my street it’s better to have snow then it would be to have it plowed. Now if you really want to see some serious swiss cheese action on the road please take a trip on Detroit Avenue between Arlington and Glendale. Now that’s some serious duck and dodge driving there my friend. Well it’s okay the 3/4% tax got renewed so those bad roads should get some attention sooner or later and I don’t recommend you hold your breath on that because you won’t make it.
If your thoughts of voting for one of the candidates in the title is close to materializing I would like for you to take a moment to click the video link below. The video link will direct you to an interview done by Mary Snow representing CNN in which she asks Mike a few questions that some people need to hear the answer to. With the month coming to an end most workers are looking for that ever popular income tax form to arrive either in the mail or it being handed to them by their employer so that they can file their taxes and get that fat check from the IRS. I can honestly say that I have set a plan on that money that is coming and that’s to have my wife go in and get a new pair of glasses as well as an eye check-up that she has been waiting for for quite some time now.
As for the supposed extra cash coming in from the government - I’m not sure what the amount will be but I’m sure the Mrs. and I will go out to dinner and a movie and then bank the rest of it. We are currently caught up on our bills so we don’t see the need to spend that extra money anytime soon. We figured that if the money is banked then we know that we have something there collecting interest.
I have spoken to some of my other friends back home and their first reaction was to finally get that leather jacket or those nice boots that they saw not too long ago. If you’re reading this and would like to share what you would do with that extra cash please leave me a comment with what it would be. Watch the video below and see what some moms are planning on doing with the money. VIDEO
Most companies that run a respectable company as well as a productive company can say that the success might be coming from their lunch room. How’s that you say? Well it’s said that most companies are encouraging their employees to stay at work and enjoy a health and delicious meal instead of going out and spending the time to get to a location and waiting for the service as well as driving there which in the long run would save them lots of money in gas costs.
As companies continue to explore ways to boost productivity and keep employees happy, a handful of firms are turning to state-of-the-art food service for an answer.By providing a smörgåsbord of delicious options unmatched by fast-food chains or the corner deli they can keep the employees at work and satisfied as well. But offering innovative dining options to employees isn’t cheap. And it’s not easy feeding the same crowd day after day. This is why some companies do this while others can’t afford such a luxury.
Here are a few companies that offer this service to their employees and while reading the names of the companies notice who they are and remember where they stand in the world of performance and business.
- Google 13,500 employees
- Bloomberg 9,000+ employees
- Hearst 2,000 employees
- Cisco Systems many campuses
- TBWA/Chiat Day 950 employees
- Hallmark Cards 4,500 employees
- Microsoft 35,510 employees
- General Mills 2,500 employees
- Aramark Corp 1,600 employees
I’ve worked for some companies that have what they call employee appreciation week or they have a formal dinner where all of the employees are invited and they can either go to a park or they can have a huge gathering at one of the local amusement parks. I believe that all companies should appreciate their employees and have something special once in awhile to keep the moral and productivity at the company at a level where they can keep the status high.
When reading this story I thought that the girl might of said a few things that were not true like having a broken leg at one point or maybe her experiencing her home being broken into or something like that but when I continued reading it turns out that the little girl wrote about losing a father in Iraq not too long ago. Well it turns out that not only did she not lose a father in Iraq but there wasn’t anyone under the name she used at all in the military in Iraq. I hope that her mom Priscilla Ceballos explains to her daughter what it is that she has done and what it will do to her when she heads back to school where the kids might not like her for what she has done.
I also hope that her mom didn’t put her up to this just to win tickets to a concert. There are many children out there that have lost parents in this war that aren’t using that to gain advantage in winning a contest. Let’s pray that the two of them understand that what they have done will never go away, if anything this will be a part of them until the end. I wish that by them doing this others can use this as a reminder of what not to do which is disrespect other families for some monetary exchange.
The following post is an article that I read in the November/December 2007 issue of Priority Magazine. I have visited the site but was unable to see the current issue. This story is a very important for you to read especially if you are considering a new venture in the small business world. When I read this story it reminded me that regardless to how silly an idea is or how much you think your idea isn’t going to be a hit, you still have to put yourself out there and give it a try. Enjoy the article and let me know what you think… Read the rest of this entry »
Nationally syndicated radio talk show host Glenn Beck spent Monday and Tuesday in Toledo, bringing his 2007 Christmas Tour to the SeaGate Convention Centre. Before and after his tour stop, Beck had some unfavorable words to say about the Glass City and its administration.
If anyone watched the small segment that was presented on the news tonight they would of seen a G. Beck making claims and bashing the mayor. Well as tv usually does they keep the good content out and only present what they think is important. Please if you’re reading this visit the link below and watch the whole clip and then you’ll see that Glenn was only stating what he saw. I can’t blame him - my wife and I have talked about this in the past where we think that most of the empty buildings should be either torn down or sold/leased to businesses that want to come here and expand. Heck I even joked with her and said that we should take a loan out and move Glass City Jungle to Downtown so that she can have that fresh downtown feeling. VIDEO
Alex Rodriguez isn’t going to be a Tiger in 2008, but maybe he’ll consider an offer from the Toledo Mud Hens. On Sunday, after SI.com reported that Rodriguez would opt out of his contract and become a free agent, New York Yankees senior vice president Hank Steinbrenner told the New York Times, “Does he want to go into the Hall of Fame as a Yankee, or a Toledo Mud Hen?” The Mud Hens figured they should give him that opportunity. Dan Royer, a graphic designer for the team, created a mock Hall of Fame bust, with Rodriguez wearing a Toledo hat. The Mud Hens also prepared a letter that they plan to mail to Rodriguez’s agent, Scott Boras. Included is a contract offer with incentives if he hits 75 home runs per season and leads Toledo to 10 straight Governors’ Cup titles. There is a catch, of course. The letter includes a reminder that Mike Hessman – the International League’s reigning Most Valuable Player – is the Mud Hens’ everyday third baseman. “We think that it would be a healthy competition at spring training between the two of them,” it reads. “Would your client be willing to play a different position?” By Jon Paul Morosi - Detroit Free Press Sports Writer
I believe we should welcome him with open arms and hearts. We have a great crew in The Mud Hens and we can always use an addition to the club. Let’s see what happens with this one and I would have to agree that he might bring in a bigger fan crowd and a bit more money to the area which Toledo canuse right now and in the future.
