What a game!
I have to admit that I did not watch the first half completely but I did watch from the half time on. Not sure what to think of the show during half time “The Who”. The light show was excellent but the music was pretty good. I can tell you one thing though - there was well over 10,000 (give or take a thousand) CSI fans in the house when the song “Who are you” came on. The crowd erupted with sing-a-longs for the entire song. I have so many favorite moments in the second half that I don’t know which one to post tomorrow. Come back tomorrow and see what I picked. Once again - Congrats go out to the New Orleans Saints!

With this being a moment for these two teams (Colts & Saints) to come and fight it out for the grand title he had to find it necessary to listen to his woman and let what she said get to him. Yeah I know that’s a whole lot of assumption but come on folks - the man has a short fuse as is the last thing he probably needed was his woman saying something out of place to get him going. Now I’m not saying that what he did was ok or even called for - what I am saying that he needs to control his emotions and try to walk away from certain situations. MIAMI (UPI) – Former NFL All-Pro Warren Sapp was arrested by Miami Beach police after his girlfriend accused him of choking her, a police report said.

The alleged attack at the couple’s Shore Club hotel room in Miami Beach early Saturday occurred after they had been partying at the venue.

The unidentified woman also told police she was sleeping when Sapp pulled her out of bed and demanded she leave the room.

Sapp, a former star with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Oakland Raiders, was charged with misdemeanor domestic battery after both parties were questioned by police.

Sapp was released from the Miami-Dade County jail Saturday evening.

He was in Miami to provide TV commentary Sunday for the NFL Network at Super Bowl XLIV between Indianapolis and New Orleans, but The Miami Herald said he has been taken off the air until the network reviews the incident.

I was not able to catch this game due to some chores that had to get done that day but I did manage to get the news on Sunday that my boys pulled it off yet again. Keeping control of the game was key and the key holder of such an accomplishment would have to go to Glen Coffee, with his total yardage of 129 on 16 carries the 49ers were able to maintain that advantage. Now let’s not forget about Kory Sheets, with him putting in the final touches on an 18 point fourth quarter stomping by graciously running in the 5 yard touchdown to secure their win over The Raiders, Good Job fellas - can’t wait until the next one.

nfl_logo.jpgEven though I’m currently in PR (Puerto Rico) I will be looking into the game between the Niners and the Saints at 1 today. I read the following on ESPN.com/NFL about today’s game and I don’t think this guy is aware of the team that the niners are bringing.

Scouts Inc.: The Saints are reeling after two tough road losses, and they continue to have problems on defense. The offense has been productive, but QB Drew Brees must now find a way to be effective without TE Jeremy Shockey for the next several weeks. The Saints’ running game has stalled, while they depend on Brees’ arm to keep them in games. Meanwhile, the 49ers, who have won their last two games, will enter this contest with a fair amount of confidence.

Don’t get me wrong - I know that these fellas make a living predicting such moments but I really don’t think the Saints can mount anything that will cause the Niners to lose today. I will post some added details after the game.

mike nolanI was unable to watch the boys in red and gold play today but I definitely had a chance to watch the highlights of the game. Right from the beginning it looked like the Seahawks were going to dominate the game but the Niners made sure that such a thing will not play out the way Seattle would of wanted it to. The look on Mike Nolan’s face was one that meant business and not of defeat. The Niners went on to win the game in overtime with a gorgeous field goal by #6 Joe Nedney. Congrats to you all for getting that win in Seahawk territory. Watch the highlights below and see what you missed.

I am still in shock even though it’s been about a day and a half later. Ohio State losing like they did yesterday is something that should be remembered forever. Yes I know that Michigan lost as well to the Irish but they didn’t lose the game as bad as OSU did to USC.

I watched each and every play that Ohio had but for some reason they couldn’t keep their minds focused on the game because every time they had an advantage it felt like USC presented a play that would throw them off.

I have to give the USC group some huge props because even though they were favored to win the game there were still some die hard OSU folks that wouldn’t accept it. Congrats to Mark and his troops on getting the job done.

LOS ANGELES - Mark Sanchez completed 17-of-28 passes for 172 yards and four touchdowns Saturday to lead top-ranked Southern California to a 35-3 win over No. 5 Ohio State.

Joe McKnight rushed for 105 yards on 12 carries for the Trojans (2-0), who hadn’t played Ohio State since 1990.

Damian Williams had three receptions — two for touchdowns — for 49 yards and Stanley Havili added a TD as part of a five-catch, 49-yard game. USC has so far outscored its two opponents — Ohio State and Virginia — 87-10 this season.

Todd Boeckman struggled for the Buckeyes (2-1), throwing for 84 yards on 14-of-21 completions. He was also intercepted twice.

Terrelle Pryor completed 7-of-9 passes for 52 yards, and ran 11 times for 40 yards, but Ohio State went without a touchdown for the first time in 142 games.

dscn1060.JPGThis past weekend I had the pleasure of going to a Michigan game with a good friend of mine. Michigan was scheduled to meet Miami (Ohio) at high noon on Saturday. Well before I get going on the day’s event I want to first say thank you to Joe for bringing me along to experience a good game in The Big House.

I can honestly tell you that being with that many Michigan fans you can’t help but cheer along with them. It was so crazy that while walking up to the stadium a bunch of grown men began singing the fight song very loudly which of course I joined in but not at the same range as they were. Well I heard that the Big House was going to be under construction but I didn’t think they were going to be that deep in construction.

It looks like they’re adding more suites to the stadium, which of couirse will bring in more money for the university. The game started out to be quite exciting especially after Michigan went on a 10 to 0 lead by the second quarter. Now the second and third quarter belong to Miami because it wasn’t until the fourth quarter that Michigan scored another touchdown.

I hope to experience more games in the future but with the cost of the tickets being in the $50 dollar and up range I don’t think I’ll being going up any time soon on my own dime. Yes people that’s right I’m saying that I’m seriously broke especially if you read the post on me losing my car to a black bear. Once again I would like to thank Joe for a good time and a great experience.

After last night’s entertaining coverage of the ‘Super Tuesday’ event on CNN I quickly realized who they want to win this race. After dinner I decided to go upstairs and watch the coverage on CNN, well let me start out by saying that CNN had an awesome setup. They had everything hooked up and then some. The smart board/display was great - having them go from state to state and county to county was excellent.

Now I’m trying to remember the gentleman’s name that was at the helm of that board it will come to me later, anyways he kept focusing on certain counties in Georgia with a big hand drawn circle where he was confident that McCain will be favored and that with that particular section McCain will indeed obtain Georgia. Well as the night went on not only did McCain not keep up to Huckabee but the original circle that was drawn was decreasing in size as the night went on. That to me was completely hilarious, oh and before I forget - when Georgia had just 1% reporting CNN quickly threw up their graphic for ‘projection’ that McCain would take Georgia and they even put up their cute little yellow check mark indicating he had it already. That was a complete disaster in the part of CNN on that one.

One last thing that caught my attention - I noticed that when Huckabee was giving a speech regarding his wins CNN had a few seconds of him talking then they went back to the boards to see what was going on at the moment. Later on they had Hillary and Romney covered a whole lot more then Huckabee got, it had to of been at least 15 minutes each talking about their stance and where they want to be in the future. I also remember when the female reporter gave Huckabee an interview she had it set in her mind that Huckabee should drop out and consider backing up one of the other candidates.

Huckabee plainly spelled out to her and who ever decided to give her those stupid questions that he is in it to the end and will not walk off the field early. He even threw in the fact that the NY Giants were given the old good bye and thank you for trying before the game even started and as you all know they not only pulled away from the Patriots but they did it coming from behind which is what Huckabee has done for quite some time.

Today is the day where the two teams that outplayed, outlasted and survived all the other teams are about to go head to head on the game of the year. I have heard many color commentators mention that the Patriots are going to be making history today because of their current undefeated record. Now I have been repeatedly told by my wife as well as others that the Dolphins have accomplished that goal already back in 73. I’m curious as to why the local a well as national commentators haven’t brought that up to the light.

The only thing that is different in the two comparisons is the fact that the 73 Dolphins had a perfect season but their final record wasn’t the same as the Patriots. As you can remember the Dolphins had maybe 14 or 15 games before doing the impossible while here we have the Patriots doing the same thing except that they had to win two additional games just to keep the title as undefeated. Whatever the turn out/outcome will be I have to hand it to them for making it this far.

If the Pats win then they join the Dolphins in doing the imposible - if the Giants win then this will be a true accomplishment for them as a team, especially with young Manning calling the shots. With the Giants winning, the Manning brothers brothers can compare stories as well as the title trophy.

In case some of you are curious to find out what the end road was for the Dolphins just click here to see the final bracket as well as the scores.

I just spent about a half hour looking through a lot of pictures of the old sports arena. The site is called Abandoned but not Forgotten. This site has a large collection of the arena before it was torn down. Many of them are new to me because I never had the chance to go and participate in any of the events. I promise that when the new arena is completed I will not only go to many games and events but I will even buy souvenirs to keep as a reminder of my experience.

The following link will direct you to a site where they are running a continuous stream of video so that you can see what is going on at the construction site. Click here to see the live cam shots of the site. I haven’t heard any final decisions on the name for the teams but it looks like the Woodpecker name will not be used due to the possible use of the word peckerhead - which to some folks is considered inappropriate. Well see what the name will be, I’m leaning towards Wranglers or even Cherokee - yes these are car names and they have a tie in with Toledo.

Lambeau Field could not of looked any more perfect then what it did today. There was nothing more entertaining then watching two good teams going for it all and move to the next step. They had a rough start but they found it within themselves to get the game going in their favor. I can’t wait to see tomorrow’s games to come and if what I saw today was just the beginning of a good football weekend then I definitely can’t wait till tomorrow.

heismantrophy2007.JPGNEW YORK - Florida quarterback Tim Tebow won the 2007 Heisman Trophy Saturday to become the first sophomore ever to earn the prestigious college football award.
Tebow received 462 first-place votes and 1,957 points to beat out Arkansas running back Darren McFadden, Missouri quarterback Chase Daniel and Hawaii quarterback Colt Brennan, the other three finalists. It was the first time since the Heisman Trophy has been awarded since 1935 that the winner has not been a junior or a senior. Tebow, who Thursday won the Maxwell Award as the nation’s top all-around player, became the first player in Football Bowl Subdivision history, formerly Division I-A, to throw at least 20 touchdown passes and run for at least 20 TDs in the same season. He has thrown for 3,132 yards with 29 touchdowns and run for 838 yards and 22 touchdowns this season. McFadden was second in the voting with 291 first-place votes and 1,703 points. Last year’s Heisman runner-up to Troy Smith, McFadden has run for 1,725 yards with 15 touchdowns in 12 games. He tied an SEC record with 321 rushing yards in a Nov. 3 game against South Carolina and has averaged 143.8 yards per game. Congrats to Tebow on achieving this moment in history. I look forward to seeing many future highlights from this young man.

A very good game…

NFL 07BALTIMORE (UPI) — Jabar Gaffney pulled in a Tom Brady pass for an eight-yard score with 44 seconds left Monday, lifting undefeated New England to a 27-24 win over Baltimore. It initially looked as if Gaffney may have bobbled the ball while getting both feet down inside the left corner of the end zone. But a review of the play showed it was a touchdown.
The Patriots drove the ball 73 yards in 13 plays for the winning drive that gave them a 12-0 record. New England is seeking to match the 1972 Miami Dolphins, the only team in NFL history to finish a season unbeaten. The Ravens (4-8), who came into the game as the fourth-ranked defense in the NFL, came close to regaining the lead when Kyle Boller completed a 52-yard pass to Mark Clayton but he was gang-tackled on the three-yard line on the final play.

I have to admit I did not watch the entire game but from what I saw on ESPN and other sports channels the last quarter was the one to watch. The last catch in the game for the Patriots was a bit questionable. A lot of people say that the catch was clean and good while a few others disagree and think that he did not have complete control of the ball. I have to give the Ravens a lot of credit on how they came and presented their A game. My hat’s off to Baltimore and their crew. They have shown us that although the Pats are a good team they can still be beaten regardless to who it is.

MIAMI - Miami area police are investigating the shooting death of Washington Redskins defensive back Sean Taylor as a homicide and looking at an earlier burglary. Taylor, 24, died early Tuesday in a Miami hospital, a day after being shot in the upper leg during a break-in at his home.
Miami-Dade police were called at 1:45 a.m. Monday to Taylor’s home in Palmetto Bay, The Miami Herald reported. His girlfriend and baby daughter were in the same bedroom with him when the shooting occurred but weren’t injured, the report said. Nothing was stolen. But Miami-Dade police said Taylor’s home also had been broken into eight days earlier, CNN reported. In that break-in, an unknown person forced open a window and left a kitchen knife on a bed, the police report said. Several drawers and a bedroom safe also had been searched during the break-in, CNN said.
It is not known whether the first burglary was related to Monday’s attack, Taylor’s lawyer, Richard Sharpstein, said. In 2005, Read the rest of this entry »

DAVIE, Fla. - The National Football League announced Wednesday Miami running back Ricky Williams can return to action late this month. Williams has been suspended since the 2005 season for violating the league’s drug policy.
“Ricky Williams was notified this morning by Commissioner (Roger) Goodell that he has been reinstated as an NFL player,” the league said in a statement. “Williams can begin attending team meetings and practicing immediately, but will not be eligible to play in games until Week 12 when the Dolphins play at Pittsburgh (Monday night, Nov. 26). The Dolphins will receive a roster exemption for Williams for up to two weeks when he begins practicing, starting no later than Monday.” Williams was suspended in April 2006 for his fourth violation of the league’s anti-drug policy. He then signed a one-year deal with Toronto of the Canadian Football League, where he ran for 623 yards. He missed two months of the 2006 season with a broken arm. His reinstatement to the NFL does not guarantee he will be on the Miami roster. Miami Coach Cam Cameron said Wednesday that he and Williams, “will sit down and visit.”

My wife might be thrilled to hear that her favorite player is back but then again will he make a huge difference in how they are currently playing? I hope that for the teams sake they try and improve their defensive team, because from what I’ve seen they need it pretty bad.
