I would like to send a heart felt thank you to all vets present and past. I would like to share with you reading this that with the way vets are being treated whether it’s avoidance, neglect or just plain disrespect a story that I watched and it has brought me to a complete understanding that these men and women have put there lives for the betterment of this country and all they got in return was grief. Please, watch this video and get yourself involved to help the many in need.

January 21st 2009 - Day one has started for many of you in the same manner that it has for quite some time now but for President Obama his next four years will be different each and every morning. Reading a pretty lengthy article on CNN this morning it looks like Obama’s day is just about full and it was only 9:00am. I have not denied to mention in the past that I am a Conservative and then a Republican. I heard the numerous debates, questions and answers from the many candidates that ran for the highest office in the land where my outcome was a strong support for Mike Huckabee.

He had a strong standing but many Americans did not want to let go of McCain and his heroic past and the maverick persona. Huckabee did not make it too far but he did put up a good long fight and for that I was proud to support him then and I continue to do so still today.

With the Obama administration in the White House now, I will be looking to them all and see if what the campaign was promoting will actually hold water. Everyone is looking to focus on President Obama’s first 100 days, I plan on focusing on his entire term. Waiting to see what changes are coming - good or bad.

Even with my disagreements with Mr. Obama and his staff I still respect the man for he is the 44th president of the United States of America and I am proud of this country including its successes and failures.

dtape.gifWhen I read this story it reminded me of my trip to Puerto Rico not too long ago where a woman got on the plane and then after the plane seperated from the annex tunnel she wanted to get off. Long story short she finally got off the plane and the rest of us still on clapped and said goodbye to the woman who had issues. Knowing that duct tape is now a part of the crew’s arsenal of devices to use to calm a passenger down and keeping them in place when being too unruly is just awesome. Please read the article and see that what I’m saying is not really crazy or made up. good job crew on making sure our skies are safe from unstable individuals like that woman going back to NY.

wounded.jpgWatching the video at first look appears to be quite brutal but as the coverage goes on you’ll notice that they are basically fighting with very stylish weapons that are no different then pillows. My friend Bill is involved in battles like this but his battles are with actual weapons with of course careful attention to safety. This sport might be something I would try out gicen that there are some times where I find myself wanting to hit something or someone and the only thing I have is my punching bag at home that doesn’t really fight back. I think I’ll do some research and see if something like this is local or maybe in the state.

Only in Toledo…

After watching the video of what looks to be a young boy that was attacked by a dog I thought about where and what city this happened in. Well wouldn’t you know it - it turns out that it happened right here in my town. I was surprised to hear that the woman did not call the dog warden out to pick up the dog. Here in Toledo we have increased the laws a bit more towards pit bulls - so this dog being one might not make it by the end of the day tomorrow. What I found interesting about it was that the mom of the injured child had a physical slap fest with the owner of the dog but after the brawl it looked like they were cool. I’m thinking the woman didn’t want to inform the warden because if you do the dog will pretty much become a dead dog. It will be interesting to find out what happens in the next few days.

hancock-logo.jpgWith Will Smith’s new movie Hancock coming out you know that it will be a hit on both the money and popularity levels. I don’t think the wife will want to spend the money to see yet another hero movie - with the way she responds to the trailers I definitely know it’s going to be a DVD rental for us. I read an article today about the movie possibly being a flop towards the end because I guess the story line goes from sweet to sour with out any warning. I’m going to watch it anyways regardless to what most critics say because I like to be the judge on movies and not rely on other’s opinions. If you got the time and are looking to watching Smith perform great then go ahead and check it out other wise do what I’m going to do and wait for it to come out on DVD.

It’s nice to know that there are a few folks out there that understand the concept of protection. Joe Horn (a true Texan) was doing his duty when protecting his neighbors home while they were away. Back in November of 07 he spotted two intruders coming outside his neighbors home. He called 911 and proceeded to tell them that he had a gun and that he was going to stop them.

The two intruders began to threaten him and then crossed onto his yard. I guess this episode touched off protests from the civil rights activists who said the shooting was racially motivated and that Mr. Horn took the law into his own hands. You know, it’s moments like this that make me wonder why this group even exists.

The man was protecting someone else’s property and defending himself from what I read were unemployed illegal immigrants from Colombia and one of them was deported to Colombia in 1999 after a 1994 cocaine-related conviction.

So if the group enjoys putting their name and their reputation behind criminals like that then by all means go right ahead but I can assure you that if they keep up this bull crap they’re going to find themselves going up river with out a paddle because the American people are going to get fed up with it sooner or later.

freedomwriters.jpgFirst and foremost my hats off to this woman Mrs. Connie Heermann for placing herself in the line of fire in order to uphold a book that has proven to many other schools that students come around and do better in school when they are able to express themselves. The book in question is the popular “Writers Freedom” which can be found in many book stores as well as many school libraries. Mrs. Heermann has been suspended for a year and a half without pay because she decided to continue with using the book. The school board will be finding themselves in a lot of hot water because of their decision. The teachers union rep. is looking into this being a violation of her first amendment. If 149 of 150 families okay’d her to use the book to further her teaching abilities in the class room then it should be clear to the school board that those families are going to unite and see that none of them get re-elected next time around, so if some of these board members were planning on keeping their position(s) on the board maybe they should of thought before acting. Only time will tell as to what’s going to happen with the members.

I have increased my baseball knowledge the past few years because my brother is a big fan of the Red Sox so I had to learn some baseball lingo quick. This young man has a definite future in sports especially baseball. The way he spends time reviewing the players of each team and knowing who they are and what their performance was and is is simply amazing. Heck he might even make some great money while he grows up helping many sport agents that an use that little extra info on the spot. Congrats to you Eddie Richardson and I wish you the best when you tap into that talent of yours.

offshore drillingThis past week I’ve been hearing on the radio that most hard core politicians are against the drilling just outside our shores. With gas prices hovering around the $4 mark most Americans can’t keep the status quo when it comes to living a life that was once normal and enjoyable. I have taken some serious changes in how I drive and how I spend my money knowing that help is far from coming. With president Bush saying that he’ll remove any barriers that he may have up if Congress is willing to lift the ban on offshore drilling. The image you see at the top left will illustrate where it’s okay to drill and where some drilling is already going on. Obama made it clear that this will not help us right away, he is correct on that point but my two questions for Obama are -
What does he plan on doing to lower the cost of gas?
Why shouldn’t we drill now, it would benefit our children in the future when it comes to world survival.
I am okay with offshore drilling especially if it can release us from depending on foreign oil. We as Americans are being kept on our knees and it looks like the Democratic Congress is just fine with that.

algae-energy.JPGThe past two months I’ve noticed that many independent workers are looking into finding alternative energy sources. This way of making “oil” per say is quite unique and looks to be very efficient for the drivers who need it the most. Watch the video below and see how the process is performed from start to finish. Here in Ohio we can easily start this without any problems, heck I have some algae in my pool now. All I have to do is process it so that I can sell it.

My heart sank all the way down past my feet when I saw the video link below. When I first heard of the incident I thought my friend was going a bit too far. Well not only did my friend not go too far but I think I’m going to join him and go a little further.

Ten freaking cars go by - that’s at least ten people that saw the man on the ground and instead of calling 911 they instead decided to continue on with their lives as if he was just a piece of carpet that fell off the back of truck. Then of course in this high tech world we live in you would think that those walking by would of called 911 and reported the accident - but no.

None of them called, it took a patrol car responding to another call to notice the man and then dispatched help. I watched the video again and it looks like the first car that drove by him either couldn’t wait for the SUV to drive faster so he/she decides to go around the vehicle but then I saw the second car hit the man and instead of stopping they not only kept on going but they were right behind the first and even turned down the same road.

I’m assuming the cars were stolen and they had to get away quickly or we actually have impatient drivers out there that are willing to do the unthinkable just to get to where their going a few seconds earlier.

Those people really suck and I hope that those folks that decided to stare instead of help keep this day in their mind fresh from now until the day they pass on. Unbelieveable.

megabus-1.jpgHere in Toledo we have a megabus that stops by at the Southwyck Mall parking lot and offers you a chance to ride their bus to either Chicago or Cleveland. Being that I’m a Chicago Bulls fan I will be planning on a trip to the windy city sometime this fall but before we do that my wife and I are considering visiting the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. I can guarantee that we will have a blast there seeing that my wife is a huge rock and roll fan. Visit the megabus.com site and see if you can find your city under the long list of available cities. Oh and before I forget, they start their tickets as low as a dollar. Have fun.

Watching this video doesn’t really trigger my shock meter at all. I’ve seen drivers here do absolutely much worse then what is shown in the video, which is linked at the bottom of this post by the way. Just today I had the privilege to watch some moron trying to run the light but ended up in the middle of the intersection and instead of reversing the car back behind the thick bold white line he decided to stay in the intersection and have drivers honk their horns at him while trying to maneuver around his car. Watch the video and you can easily see that this person was not looking to be stuck behind any railroad crossings. What a moron.

SEATTLE - Jose Lopez drilled a ninth-inning hit that drove in Wladimir Balentien Tuesday, lifting the Seattle Mariners to a 4-3 win over the Boston Red Sox.

The RBI hit made a loser of Mike Timlin (2-3) and a winner of J.J. Putz (2-2) who pitched a scoreless bottom of the inning for the Mariners.

Ichiro Suzuki scored two runs and Raul Ibanez had two RBI for the Mariners, who ended a seven-game losing streak.

Seattle starter Miguel Batista was charged with three runs — two earned — on five hits in seven innings.

Manny Ramirez hit a three-run homer — the 499th of his career — for the Red Sox, who have dropped four of their last five games.

Daisuke Matsuzaka, trying to win his first nine decisions to start the season, left after throwing warm-up pitches in the fifth inning. His problem was described as shoulder fatigue. He gave up three runs — two earned — on four hits in four innings.

Well with the next game just hours away you can pretty much assume that I’m looking at seeing Manny get that 500th hit. Even though they lost the last game I’m still hoping to seeing them pull off another win and if that doesn’t happen then at least I have Manny’s hit to look forward to.
